Ballymacravan about two miles from Ennistimon, near N67. Situated in the middle of a small field, on a mound beside a winding road, it is confined by a circle of ill-kept bushes. Although its natural stone hood and little nook on top, decorated with statues and offerings, still survive, graffiti on a rock beside it is offensive. This once blessed well?s muddy base is polluted with litter and evidence of water is scant. Although totally neglected today with perseverance and respect the water could be enticed to return to the well again. It was once famous and deserves to be restored. A small area opposite the field, near a bend in the road, provides limited parking. Ask the locals for directions. It is quite difficult to find. Cure for eyes. Also The Burren Display Centre is located at Kilfenora. New information claims that two ancient monuments in this area together played a part in curing eye problems. The stonework in the well house has been carefully built and a carved stone doorway, looking like a church arch, enhances its unusual appearance. A stone cross and an ancient rag tree create an attractive background to the well.
