Further to Robyn's request regarding any possible information on the well that JM Synge writes about in his play "Well of the Saints", I have done some research & have indeed discovered the exact Holy Well that he used.
The Well is indeed named Well of the Four Beauties, and it is located at Teampall an Ceathrar Alainn (Temple of the Four Beauties) on Inishmore Island, the Aran Islands, County Galway.
The Four Beauties refer to the four locally venerated Saints: St Fursey, St Brendan of Birr, St Conall and St Berchan.
To this day, tradition dictates that the cure which is provided at this well is one for blindness (as in Synge's play).
